You may have noticed a few small but subtle changes around the website recently, so I thought I’d take a moment to explain!
When I originally started teaching in 1994, I had one club, Cheddar T.A.G.B. Tae Kwon-Do. I opened my second club in Portishead in 1998. This is when I realised I wanted to have an identity that would pull these clubs together. My astrological star sign is Gemini and I was teaching in two towns so Gemini Tae Kwon-Do was born.
In 2014, I was presented with the opportunity to take over the T.A.G.B. club in Burnham-on-Sea, the town where I live. This was the first and original Tae Kwon-Do club in the South West of England and was started by Grand Master Michael Dew, my Instructor and your Grading Examiner, in 1975. How could I possibly say no to such an amazing opportunity! So two became three.
I am a big believer in humility, so for very personal reasons, I have never wanted to call my clubs Jane Lambert’s Schools of Tae Kwon-Do. It just doesn’t feel right, but Gemini Tae Kwon-Do no longer seems to fit the bill either. I have been thinking long and hard about what ties all three clubs together, apart from Tae Kwon-Do, and my awesome students, the answer is me!
I have always been very interested in holistic health and well being. The human body is an amazing piece of kit, and with the right mindset is capable of so many incredible things. About a year ago I started adding the tagline training your mind, body and spirit to the website and our advertising, because I strongly believe that Tae Kwon-Do, when practiced wholeheartedly, is a great tool for restoring balance. I’ve always followed the path of self improvement, learning as much as I can about nutrition, flexibility, movement, body mechanics, physiology, yoga, martial arts, alternative medicine, and meditation to name just a few. Earlier this year I started studying with the IAWP, the International Association of Wellness Professionals to become a fully certified Holistic Wellness Coach.
If you google the term you will get lots of different answers, some quite technical and others pretty flowery! The consistent motivation behind all of my studies, is to empower me with the skills I need, to help all of my students and clients become the absolute best version of themselves.
So, as I mentioned, we are evolving, Gemini Tae Kwon-Do is no more!
I’d like to introduce you to our new identity, the Holistic Tae Kwon-Do Coach. I sincerely hope you are going to like it as much as we do.
