Whether you want to prepare for a grading, improve your competition standard, or just get better at performing your patterns and/or free sparring, then these are the perfect training sessions for you!

In patterns training we will focus on technique, stances, aesthetics, power, and everything else you can think of to help you improve your performance! Sparring training is a little more physically demanding as we use a combination of speed, agility and fitness training with pad work and free sparring.

Date: Saturday 7th January 2012

Patterns Training: 12.00pm – 1.30pm
Cost: £3 per session
Dress Code: Formal – Doboks and Belts

Sparring Training: 2.00pm – 4.00pm
Cost: £4.00 per session
Dress Code: Informal – T-Shirt and Bottoms

These sessions are open to all ages, grades and abilities. Please make sure you have a valid TAGB licence.

The South West of England Championships, the first local competition of the of the year, are being held on Saturday 25th February at The Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Hulse Road, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 3NR.

The closing date for officals and competitiors is Friday 10th February 2012. So please make sure all your forms and details are handed in by this date.

To help everyone prepare we have our first patterns and sparring training sessions in Portishead on Saturday 7th Januuary 2012.

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

The main sports hall in the Parish Wharf Leisure Centre will be closed for refurbishment during the first two weeks of December, so we have arranged an alternative venue for the following dates:

To help Kings Fitness and Leisure raise money for Children in Need we are having ‘Fancy Dress Friday!’ on 18th November 2011.

Everyone is invited to dress up, the sillier the better! But remember you will still need to train in your outfit!

We will be asking all students to make a small donation (£1 mimimum), a small price to pay for having so much fun!.. Just thinking about Greg and his card board box still makes us smile!!

Congratulations to Portishead student Lydia Guiver for receiving the ‘Elliot Davies Memorial Cup’ after showing incredible character and spirit on this years Junior Camp!

Lydia was one of over 125 children to attend this years camp held at Huish Wood Scout Campsite. It’s a great weekend packed full of exciting activities including archery, woodland crafts, caving, a zip wire and of course Tae Kwon-Do!

Out of all these children Lydia made a lasting impression on all the instructors and team leaders. Aged just 7 years old, this was Lydia’s first real trip away from mum and dad, but she didn’t let this stop her!

Every year the ‘Elliot Davies Memorial Cup’ is awarded to one lucky student. This award is not about being the best, it’s about showing that you have an incredible spirit and a zest for life!

Lydia met every challenge on camp head on, and had a go at every activity no matter how scary! Including the zip wire which was a nerve tingling 100 feet above the ground, making her one of the youngest children ever to successfully complete this activity! It was this adventurous and daring spirit that won Lydia this amazing award.

Well done Lydia, we are very proud of you!
